Conservapedia (the conservative Wikipedia? really?) is apparently fed up with crappy Bible translations and has thus decided to translate it how they want to. Also, it says the NIV is written on a 7th grade level. No surprise there, I guess. Sigh.
While I agree that the NIV is written for a 7th grader (which would make The Message written for an infant), and that modern translations tend to gloss over complexities in the original text, this is the exact thing that disturbs me about any thought-for-thought translation. Damn you liberals and conservatives. Who around here is for seeing things just the way they are, not the way we want them to be?
Every week we meet for breakfast to talk about whatever is on our minds, but sometimes we have more to say than what can fit into our family breakfasts.
